Abstract Sugar beet ( Beta vulgaris L.) is an economically important crop in temperate climates providing nearly 30% of sugar production worldwide. The oomycete Aphanomyces cochlioides the causative agent seedling damping-off and root rot disease beet. pathogen responsible for plant degeneration drastic yield losses all major producing areas. identification resistant germplasm essential to reduce use chemical treatments as well costs protective measures effectively limit damage caused by pathogen. In this study we aimed establish a qPCR-based method quantify DNA infected plants predict resistance levels different genotypes response A. . difference isolates with geographical origins was investigated. addition, confocal microscopy performed order observe spatial temporal colonization pattern seedlings susceptible partially breeding lines. research presented article provides tool understand progress infection tissues identify genetic background that can be used support programs.
